AITA for giving the concert ticket I was supposed to use with my best friend to a girl I just started talking to?

He treated an existing commitment with his best friend as something he could rearrange by himself. His friend had been included. He was looking forward to the plan, and looking forward to sharing it with him. I would be hurt to learn that my place had been given away because somebody more interesting just appeared. I would also wonder if my friend assumed I'd put up with it just because we're friends and we're comfortable with each other. Well, wait. Let's stop there. Being comfortable with a friend shouldn't mean getting comfortable disappointing them. I want to trust that our plans still matter even when someone attractive enters the conversation. That's basic consideration and respect for the other person.

At least he offered his ticket. It wouldn't have been so surprising if he had taken the girl's ticket away from her after giving it to her. So I do give him credit for apologizing and accepting that fixing his decision would cost him the concert, which was fair. Still, his solution was the most awkward solution of all. Why would you ask two people who didn't know each other to spend the evening together? I mean, your best friend and a girl you've been dating for 2 weeks. It's weird.

Naturally, she lost interest. The way a person treats their friends says a lot about them. And if you treat your best friend badly, then I don't think you can treat anyone you care about nicely either. I would take this into account before deciding to get closer to them. This guy was lucky to finish the weekend without losing a real friend. If I were him, I'd spend less time worrying about whether the girl would text back and more time showing my friend that I understood I handled the situation very badly. I'd start by making plans I actually intended to keep.
